Shore Road, New Jersey Avenue, Church Street and nearby residential blocks carry much of Absecon's early village identity.
Atlantic County · Historic Gateway to the Shore
Absecon, New Jersey
Absecon is a small Atlantic County city with an identity that predates Atlantic City itself. Historic Shore Road, an active NJ Transit rail station, Heritage Park, Absecon Bay, established residential neighborhoods and the White Horse Pike commercial corridor all meet within a community of just over 9,000 residents.
Its location makes Absecon both a hometown and a practical regional base: Atlantic City is minutes east, Galloway and Historic Smithville are immediately north, and the Garden State Parkway, Atlantic City Expressway and Atlantic City International Airport are within easy reach.
Absecon Overview
Absecon combines older South Jersey settlement patterns with postwar neighborhoods, waterfront and marsh-edge landscapes, a railroad tradition, and modern Route 30 commerce. It is a separate municipality from Atlantic City and from neighboring Galloway Township, even though many regional hotels and businesses use “Absecon” in their marketing.
The city's busiest commercial corridor includes supermarkets, hotels, services, shopping centers, restaurants and auto-oriented businesses.
Turner Cove, Faunce Landing and views toward Absecon Bay connect the city directly with tidal South Jersey landscapes.
From King's Highway to the Atlantic City Railroad
