Allen House400 Sycamore Avenue. A circa-1710 structure later operated as the Blue Ball Tavern and preserved by the Monmouth County Historical Association.

History & Local Character

Shrewsbury is one of Monmouth County's earliest settlement areas, but today's borough is much smaller than the historic Shrewsbury Township that once covered a vast portion of the region. The present borough emerged as a separate municipality in the 1920s. Its modern identity combines a residential community, historic Four Corners landmarks and a major Route 35/Broad Street shopping corridor.
