Midland Park is best experienced as a small Bergen County community rather than a major tourism center. Its visitor appeal comes from the historic Wortendyke rail setting, neighborhood parks, community events, local restaurants and proximity to Ridgewood and Wyckoff.

Midland Park's name is tied to the New Jersey Midland Railway, and the Wortendyke section remains the strongest place to connect with that history. NJ Transit still maintains a Midland Park–Wortendyke parking/location page at Central and Godwin avenues, though no active commuter-rail line is listed.
The surviving rail corridor and Wortendyke identity are central to Midland Park's history.
