Englewood Cliffs is a distinctive Bergen County borough perched above the Hudson River, where quiet residential neighborhoods meet the dramatic Palisades, major corporate campuses and some of North Jersey's most recognizable river overlooks.
Sylvan Avenue / Route 9W forms the borough's principal north-south corridor, linking homes, schools, municipal facilities, medical offices and global companies only minutes from the George Washington Bridge and New York City.

Few municipalities with roughly 5,000 residents have a corporate presence comparable to Englewood Cliffs. Sylvan Avenue has long attracted major international companies because of its location near Manhattan, the George Washington Bridge and northern Bergen County.
LG's North American headquarters and major business operations remain based in Englewood Cliffs.
The 900 Sylvan Avenue campus remains identified in current Borough zoning documents as CNBC headquarters.
Samsung currently maintains its Englewood Cliffs presence at 700 Sylvan Avenue. The company announced in 2026 that its U.S. headquarters is expected to relocate to Plano, Texas by year-end, so its local footprint is in transition.
A new multispecialty medical campus and the Precision Surgery Center of Englewood Cliffs expanded the borough's healthcare presence in 2026.

Englewood Cliffs Recreation offers year-round youth and adult activities along with summer camp and major community events.
Major Borough recreation area used for basketball and community sports programming.
Current recreation offerings include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, girls volleyball, golf, softball and tennis.
Programs include basketball, pickleball, Pilates, tennis, senior exercise, walking and yoga.
The 2026 program included sports clinics, STEM activities, wellness sessions, arts and crafts, field trips and special events.

Englewood Cliffs Public Schools
The local district serves students from Pre-K through Grade 8 in two borough schools. Englewood Cliffs also maintains a sending-receiving relationship with Englewood Public Schools for high school.

Students who remain in the public sending-receiving pathway are eligible to attend Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood without tuition cost to their families.
The district counseling program also guides Grade 8 students considering county academies, magnet programs, private or parochial schools and tuition-based alternatives.

A landmark in American jazz history
Van Gelder Studio & Home at 445 Sylvan Avenue is one of Englewood Cliffs' most important cultural landmarks. Recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder opened the studio in 1959, and the room became closely associated with landmark jazz recordings for Blue Note, Prestige, Impulse!, Verve and other labels.
The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 25, 2022 and is also listed on the New Jersey Register.
Artists associated with recordings there include John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard and many others.
The high-ceilinged studio was designed with Frank Lloyd Wright-influenced architectural principles and became famous for its acoustics.
